About

Raised in Sligo on Ireland’s west coast, Conor Bastible is an accomplished jazz pianist and composer whose work is heavily inspired by the Irish traditional music of his homeland. His influences range from Chick Corea, Keith Jarrett, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, and Adrienne Lenker, to Brian Finnegan and local Sligo legend Seamie O’Dowd.

Conor studied at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, graduating with First Class Honours, where he worked closely with leading artists and educators including Mike Williams, Percy Pursglove, John O’Gallagher, and Rebecca Nash. During his time in Birmingham, he performed extensively at the Eastside Jazz Club and the Cheltenham Jazz Festival, appearing with his own sextet as well as with the RBC Jazz Orchestra and Afro-Cuban Ensemble.

As a composer and arranger, Conor has created works such as The Heart’s Desire Suite, a collection of chamber pieces inspired by the landscapes of County Sligo, and has contributed arrangements for the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

Now based between Ireland and abroad, Conor continues to develop his career as a pianist, composer, and arranger—steadily establishing himself as a distinctive voice on both the Irish and international jazz scenes.
